I’ve been a small business owner, and I know firsthand that the support of my local community is the difference between profit and loss. But this Saturday, I will be out supporting Small Business Saturday. Here are four ways you can support #SmallBizSat too.

1. Shop Local

Instead of heading to the mall or the big box stores, on Small Business Saturday shop at your local neighborhood stores.

• farmers markets and grocery stores

• gift and clothing shops

• gas and service stations

• food trucks and restaurants

 

2. Spread the Word

Tell your family, friends and neighbors that you are supporting Small Business Saturday to help grow your local economy. Encourage them to #ShopSmall too.

3. Thank Your Local Shops

When you shop local on Small Business Saturday, tell your local shopkeepers that your are there on #SmallBizSat to support local businesses, and that you value their contribution to your community. Small business owners need to hear that their services matters to their community!

4. Shop Small Online

Many of your local stores have websites and you can support them online. So if your Thanksgiving holiday does not include fighting the holiday shopping crowds, you can still support #ShopSmall with just a few clicks, right from your own home.
