PDC: The Holy Trinity of Sales Success

An excerpt from my interview with Brian Tracy on the Brian Tracy show:

Brian Tracy:
What one piece of advice can you give our viewers to succeed, to survive and thrive in this new economy?

Anthony Caliendo:
The economy’s changed. We’re in Florida right now: I believe sales is like alligator filled swamps. You have to know how to navigate through the swamps. When you navigate through swamps the objective is not to get eaten by the alligators.

What I mean by that is you have to take everything in your head and you’ve got to let loose a little bit. You’ve got to open up to new ideas and new concepts. And I think that’s the problem with a lot of sales people: they just don’t train enough. You take athletes who are #1 and successful. Why? They train all the time.

You have to be great at training yourself. You have to be dedicated. You have to have

• Passion

• Dedication

• Courage

I call that PDC: I say it’s the holy trinity of being successful in sales: Passion, Dedication and Courage. That’s what salespeople really need to become successful in sales. They have to believe in themselves. If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you get the buyers to believe in you? So you have to really believe that you can change your own stars, and that you can become successful.

I have 8 children: 5 boys and 3 girls Brian. So I’m a very motivated guy. What motivates you? What makes you successful? What makes you tick? Once you understand that and you feel that passion you will become successful. But you’ve got to practice.
